Gun Rights

The beginning of the slide show goes back in time, showing the creation of the gun rights in the second amendment. The first picture includes the famous quote "We the people" with a gun next to the quote meaning, that everyone is entitled to gun rights. This picture was used first to relate to everyone that this posting was relating to everyone, to attract interest to everyone. In the second picture it breaks down into another piece of the Declaration saying “to keep and bear arms" showing the written evidence of our write. This picture helps show evidence to help people understand this argument for gun rights. The next few pictures with the Statue of Liberty and the eagle help show the power and freedom we have in this country. That is including gun rights shown by the Statue of Liberty lifting up a gun. The eagles help show that it is a freedom and with the expiration date, that it can never be taken away from you and me. The statue helps portray that of how our country was shaped with this right. The picture of the politician holding up the gun shows how powerful that right can be in debates for elections. This shows that many people support and back this right because politicians go for ideas that many people will agree with, in turn gaining his support for the election. This picture also depicts that this is a controversial topic because it’s being brought up to help in a campaign. This second to last picture shows a man grabbing for a gun at 3am due to someone breaking in his house. These last two pictures are there to show how that right is mostly used today for self defense.  You want to have some protection for your family against bad people and the picture shows you can protect better and feel safer with a gun. The picture of him holding the broom shows his face as scared and nervous because he doesn’t feel he can protect himself and his family with a broom. The last picture shows a picture that’s been in the news most recently, to help people connect to the post. This young mother had her house broken into and to protect her baby she shot one of the robbers with the gun shown.  This picture helps show a real story of how having that right she was able to protect her and baby.

  1. I believe Americans citizens should be able to own firearms, however, I believe the second amendment is a weak argument for that right. It was written in the context of a period during which national security was nonexistent. It is also in relation to a "militia", which we certainly have in this country.
Still, Americans should have a right to arms. The high crime rate of our country seems to justify weapon possession.
However, I believe the process one goes through to buy a firearm should be more thorough. At the age of 18 I bought an AK-47. I only had to answer 7 questions to buy that gun. Only a fool would have answered those questions in a manner which would have prevented the sale.
